Here you will find our past postings of "Tip of the Month" for Walt Disney World. These tips do not come from another website or a book in some store, but are little things we have picked up in the years that we have visited the property (Also, two of us worked there for three years). You can click on the links at the bottom of the page to help you find out more insider information.
Disney Tip of the Month for August 2008
The kids are getting ready to go back to school and later in the month is a great time to visit the parks. Also those with Florida Resident Seasonal Passes are able to head back to the parks after a long summer of Blackout Days. Then again, did you really want to go deal with the heat AND the crowds? Our Tip of the Month for August is for all the parents with young children. Pick up a Seasonal Pass and enjoy the parks as much as you can while your children are young. I know how hard it is to come up with the money for Seasonal Passes (Maybe Disney will come up with a payment plan like Sea World and Busch Gardens to make it easier for everyone to enjoy what they have to offer). Anyway, enjoy the shorter lines towards the end of the month!
Disney Tip of the Month for July 2008
Here we are in the middle of summer and this tip is a quick and simple tip. If you insist on heading over to the parks at this time of year, do yourself a favor and pack a small cooler full of water. We take a cooler that has a shoulder strap and carries eight bottles of water plus some snacks like grapes, apples, or those little Gogurt things. Freeze a couple of the bottles of water and then you aren't wasting space on ice. Doing this will save you some $$$ and will also keep everyone hydrated in the summer heat.
Disney Tip of the Month for June 2008
Don't like getting caught in the parade crowds when visiting the Magic Kingdom? Then plan your visit around the parades and use the Magic Kingdom Railroad to get to different areas of the park without fighting the crowds. For example, if you get to the park at parade time and want to get back to Splash and Thunder Mountains simply hop on the train at Main Street U.S.A. and get off at the first stop. You have just saved your family the torture of navigating the streets and sidewalks filled with parade watchers. We like to end our visits at the Magic Kingdom at Mickey's Toon Town Fair and hop on the train for a relaxing ride to the Main Street U.S.A. station for a quick exit. If you time it right you can catch the final parade of the day and scoot out of the park before the rest of the crowds rush for the exit. **Warning** It is a good idea to find out what time the trains stop running so that you do not get stuck at the station!
Disney Tip of the Month for May 2008
Tired of the crowds at the Magic Kingdom and just need to take a break from the long lines? Well take one of the little motorized rafts out to Tom Sawyer's Island for a change of pace. It amazes me that most people that visit the Magic Kingdom don't take advantage of the laid back atmosphere that is a welcome break from the hectic pace of the rest of the park. Now I also understand that the majority of visitors to Disney are trying to cram as much as they can into their visit, so this tip is more for those who get over there more often and have some time to spend enjoying a walk around the island. Kid's and adults will love walking across the barrel bridge, kid's will be terrified walking through the bat cave (Dad's will love scaring the kid's in the bat cave), and everyone will love walking around the fort. You could easily spend an hour exploring the island and it is a great place to enjoy a quick bite to eat if you bring a snack into the park. There is a little snack stand on the island that sells ice cream when it is open. So the next time you head over to the Magic Kingdom and don't want to wait an hour to ride Thunder Mountain, take the ride over to Tom Sawyer's Island for some down time.
Disney Tip of the Month for April 2008
Got a little time to spend and you don't want to go into the parks? Head over to Fort Wilderness Campground and take a canoe or kayak out for a trip around the campground. There are plenty of fish in the canals and you can try your luck once you get back (Not sure if you can fish from the boats). Stop by the petting farm for a pony ride and hang out in a chair on the beach. There is plenty to keep you busy without messing around with the crowds at the parks during Spring Break. Don't forget to bring your bike as you can bike through the campground along the shady streets. Of course if you stay until evening you can enjoy making s'mores while watching a movie as long as the weather permits.

Parents with kids traveling to Epcot should make sure they stop in the Land Pavilion, go downstairs, and let the kids make some chocolate chip cookies. Those cookies will not make it out the door!
